Kasoa Killing: Family clarifies conflicting age of slain boy

The spokesperson for slain Boy’s Family at Kasoa, Sammed Akalilu has clarified conflicting age of the boy who was killed by two teenagers last weekend.

Two teenagers were arrested by the police in Kasoa in the Central Region for their alleged involvement in the murder of 10-year-old boy for rituals.

The teenage boys, 16 and 18 years respectively allegedly lured their victim, a 10-year-old boy identified as Ishmael Mensah into an uncompleted building and killed him.

Although some report said the slain boy was 10, other reports said the boy was 11.

But in an interview with Ekourba Gyasi Simpremu, on Atinka TV’s morning show, Ghana Nie, the spokesperson said the boy was 10 as at the time he was murdered, adding that he would have turned 11 on May 1, 2021.

As at the time of the interview, he said the family was waiting on government for the body of the boy and then go ahead with his burial.

Sammed Akalilu said when the body is received, the family will take it home and perform a Muslim prayer for the Slain, Ishmael before he is buried.

After the boy is buried, he added that the family will go back home and offer the final Muslim prayer for departed soul.

Sammed Akalilu said as at the time of waiting for the body of the boy, the family had not received any financial support from either individuals or the government for the burial of the boy.

He said although the family has been assured by the Regional Minister of the release of the boy’s body by Wednesday, they were still skeptical about it because as at the time of the interview, the body had not been received.

Meanwhile, he said Justice should begin today by government giving the family the body for the necessary rites.
